Journal of the Psychiatric
Association of Thailand is the official journal of thePsychiatric
Association of Thailand. The Journal is intended for circulation
among fellows, members, inceptors, and affiliates of the Associtaion,
colleagues in psychiatry, and selected readers in other fields of
medicine and allied professions.
TYPES
OF ARTICLES
The Journal will publish original
articles, review papers, and case reports related to clinical practice
and research in psychiatry and related disciplines. Book reviews
and letters to the editor are also welcome.
PEER
REVIEW PROCESS
Each paper submitted for publication
will be assessed by two independent reviewers. The Editorial Board
will select reviewers who are experienced in the relevant fields.
Additional review or even repetition of the peer review process
may be performed at the discretion of the Editorial Board. The final
publication decision lies with the Editorial Board. The peer review
process may take 3-6 weeks. The corresponding author will be informed
of the acceptance or rejection of the manuscript by mail along with
the reviewers’ comments. All reviewers and authors will remain anonymous
to each other. There should be no direct reference to the authors
in the manuscripts, other than in the title page, to maintain the
authors anonymity to the reviewers.
COPYRIGHT
Papers are accepted on the
understanding that they have not been and will not be published
in any other journals. Author(s) will be requested to sign an assignment
copy-right when a paper is accepted for publication. Accepted papers
become the property of the Psychiatric Association of Thailand
and may not be published elsewhere without written permission from
the Publication Committee of the Association. The principal author
must ensure that all co-authors listed agree to submission of the
paper. A full text of the published papers will also be published
in the Journal’s homepage on the Internet, which allows free access
by all browsers, as well as in any other format for free as determined
by the editorial board.
RESPONSIBILITY
OF THE AUTHORS
All persons named as authors
must agree that they have reviewed and approved the manuscript prior
to submission and they accept responsibility for the information
contained in the article. Individuals who are not principal researchers
or writers should not be listed as authors, Alternatively, they
may be acknowledged for their ancillary role in the acknowledgement
footnote. The authors must agree that the original research data
are available for review upon a formal request from the Chief Editor.
The authors are responsible for all statements in their articles.
EDITING
The Editorial Board may edit
the manuscripts for clarity and brevity, consistency with the Journal’s
style and format, as well as for readability.
MANUSCRIPTS
Three copies of the manuscript
(complete with tables and figures) should be submitted by mail to
the Chief Editor. All papers should be written in Thai or English.
The manuscripts should be word-processed or typed double-spaced
on good quality A4 (21 x 29.7 cm) paper. Margins should be 2.5 cm.
The pages must be numbered. Receipt of the paper will be acknowledged.
Once the paper has been accepted for publication in the Journal,
the author will be asked to send an electronic copy of the article
on a diskette (preferably 3.5 inch) prepared on an IBM-compatible
personal computer to facilitate the editing and publishing process.
The diskette should be labelled with the name of the author, manuscript
title, programme, and filename. The article may also be sent by
e-mail. Please use single line spacing. High-quality, print-ready
hard copies of tables, diagrams, figures, and film positives should
also be provided on separate sheets. Alternatively, electronic versions
of graphics may be sent with a clear indication of the software
employed.
STYLE
AND FORMAT SPECIFICATIONS
Manuscripts for submission
should comply with the format guidelines of the fifth edition of
the Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts Submitted to Biomedical
Journals issued by the International Committee of Medical Journal
Editors, published in the New England Journal of Medicine,
Vol 336, Number 4, pages 309 to 315 on 23 January 1997. References
should be should be numbered consecutively in order in which they
are first mentioned in the text. Vancouver

The second
page should be a summary of maximum 200 words including the
objective(s), the methodology, the principal findings, and the
significance of the study. Prepare the abstract in a structured
format, with the headings ‘Objective(s)’, ‘Methods’, ‘Results’,
and ‘Conclusion(s)’. |

Key words |
|
No more than
5 keywords or short phrases should be provided for indexing
and reference purpose. |
4. |
Summary and
key words in Thai |
|
The authors
are required to provide a Thai translation for the abstract
and keywords when the manuscript is accepted for publication.
The Editorial Board may, at its discretion, arrange for an appropriate
translation if the authors fail to do so. |
